Now Hiring: Getty Marrow Undergraduate Curatorial and Communications Intern for Summer of 2025!

We're hiring!

The 2025 Getty Marrow Curatorial and Communications Intern will work under the supervision of the ONE Archives Curator, Dr. Alexis Johnson, and alongside Getty Marrow Emerging Professional Curatorial Assistant, Quetzal Arevalo, to conduct research and amplify our collections by creating engaging and approachable media content that will showcase and make the archive more accessible for all, and assist in curatorial tasks. The intern will be responsible for authoring content that highlights the collection and showcases the diversity of its holdings. In addition to entries selected by the curatorial team, the intern will have freedom to create content based on their own interests and research in the archive. These features may include conducting an interview with a past donor of an object or interviews with current staff or former donors. Entries will focus on specific collections (e.g. Cheryl Dunye papers) or specific objects (e.g. Jerome Caja’s Shroud of Curaid). The internship will also offer opportunities to observe and assist with other, day-to-day curatorial responsibilities, including corresponding with artists and other institutions, art handling, cataloging, and installing exhibitions. Intern may provide assistance on two exhibitions opening this summer: Fairy Prince by artist in resident Halo Starling and a permanent collections show. Intern will be expected to work 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. Most hours will take place between 9am-6pm M-F with some nights or weekends as needed.

Successful candidates will have strong research, analytic, and writing skills. Successful candidates will have an interest in making queer history more accessible to a wide variety of audiences and must feel comfortable with speaking and recording educational videos. Candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and list of three references to alexisj5@usc.edu by April 15th. Though writing samples or authored social media content are not required, they are strongly encouraged.

Eligibility is limited to currently enrolled undergraduates (bachelor's degree program, associate's degree program, or vocational or technical program below the baccalaureate level) who reside in or attend college in LA County. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 2025 and be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a "green card" holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible. Candidates may come from all areas of undergraduate study and need not have demonstrated a previous commitment to the visual arts.
